CoderDojo Foundation
CoderDojo is a worldwide non-profit organisation founded by James Whelton and Bill Liao.
It all started when James Whelton got some publicity in the beginning of 2011 after hacking the iPod Nano. Some younger students at his school asked him to teach them coding. Hence, James founded a computer club, where he began teaching HTML and CSS.
Later that year he met Bill Liao, an entrepreneur who was very interested in the project and wanted to grow it into something bigger than just an after-school computer club. In June 2011 the first official CoderDojo was held in Cork. The event was hugely succesful and CoderDojo gained popularity quickly. Since then, many Dojos have been organized throughout Ireland and all over the world.
